I reviewed the wax from Apothecary87 a couple of weeks back here but I received them at the same time. As with the wax I can happily report that the oil is a joy to wear, very well put together and easily does everything you expect a facial hair conditioner to do. The bottle I got was the small bottle at 10ml which is perfect for my moustache as any larger size would be overkill for me.
The Scent – As with the moustache wax the smell here is wonderfully refreshing, it has earthy natural elements from the sandalwood and patchouli a nice lift from the frankincense and a sweetness from the rose all balanced well with the subtle backdrop of musk. I am sure that some of those ingredients there might make you worry, I am aware for reasons unknown to me that there are many chaps who dislike patchouli, but its a complimentary mix here with no one element commanding your attention. Instead your nose is offered a wonderful treat that lasts all day and changes as the day goes on and you must try this yourself.
The Consistency – A nice light oil that spreads well, using grapeseed oil and jojoba oil is great for your hairs as they absorb quickly and there is next to no greasiness left on your fingers once you apply. You don’t need a lot here either, it goes a long way and once it hits your skin you can feel a nice sensation that is as if your skin is saying “aaaaah, thank you”
The Appearance – I noticed an immediate benefit to the hair softness, and used over a number of days you will note an improvement to the feel of your hair too. I gave this to a newly bearded work colleague and his beard certainly had a softer look to it and more controlled less wiry appearance.
Apothecary87 are a new company but they are certainly going places on the strength of the products I have tested, they have also a number of exciting new products in the pipeline as well as a rather special collaboration with Chris Millington. I am part of the #manclub as is one of my man crushes Scroobiuspip, its a fine club to be in and if you wish to join them then order up some goodies and say hi from me.
