There are a number of people of people on the internet that claim to be experts, that is not the case for our next Hirsute Hero, yet when he speaks people listen. This has nothing to do with power, neither does the man in question demand that you listen in fact quite the opposite as it is never about you believing his point, its more a case of him opening your eyes to a new thought or idea. This might sound a bit airy fairy but Kemit is someone I personally admire for his delicate and open minded outlook on things bearded and wider afield. In possession of a majestic and by his own admission wild affro beard he has learned lots of tricks and hints that he happily shares with people who need it. As someone who has taught me a great deal and a person dedicated to helping others in the bearded community Kemit firmly holds a place as a Hirsute Hero.
Who are you?
Artist/Independent Contractor. 58 years old. I am semi retired now. But I supplement my income by doing art commissions for selected clients. I do not as yet have a gallery, art representative or website. But I do rent my own live work space.
Type of Facial Hair?
Years in Service?
Hirsute for Happiness believes that a hair face is a happy face, do you agree?
Who inspired you to grow?
I always admired the beard of Billy Gibbons of ZZ Tops. I decided to grow mine out after I got to a stage in life where I was not restricted by having to adhere to dress codes in a work place. Also, to see how it looked after the drastic color change over the years.
Does having facial hair change you and it what way?
I think that it makes me more aware of subtle happening in my vicinity. The regime of daily beard care has actually helped me. I used to have anxiety problems. Not so much these days.
Does your facial hair draw attention and does that bother you?
My beard draws attention. The positive outweighs the negative. I do not think that I am getting a swelled head over it. I am happy to offer advise for any one inquiring about how to get an impressive beard. Whatever negative attention that I get? I could care less!
Would you change anything about your look?
I would like to be taller. LOL!
Has anything happened to you because of your face?
I was surprised to actually win some beard products more than once in social media.
Is your face a champion?
So far I had not competed. I would do so in the future at some point.
Does your beard/moustache have a name?
I have been calling it The Wizard.
Do you have a specific routine of care and styling?
Yes. Good products. Good styling tools. Proper grooming habits. I allow my beard to “tell” me what I likes
What’s the weirdest thing you have heard someone use on the hairs?
Honey. I tried it and it is a great conditioner.
Do you have any non bearding hobbies?
I started growing some herbs in pots out on the edge of the parking lot where I live. I like to have quiet time at home to do yoga in order to stay relaxed.
Any tips for an aspiring beard or moustache grower?
Do not focus on what you perceive to be flaws in your facial hair. When I was young all I could grow was a goatee. I shaved part of it off for most of my life and was convinced until just three years ago that I could not grow a full beard. Each beard is unique and it is up to the individual to discover how they like to rock it.
What is better; A unicorn with a moustache, penguins with beards, horses with chops?
Horse with Chops
